Why get married on Catalina Island?

The weather is great all year round!

You’ll get sunshine all day, sparkling blue waters and with the ocean breeze everywhere you go, it never feels too hot to handle. Catalina island winters can get down to 50 degrees at night so we suggest spring or summer.

So many different activities!

When we were on Catalina Island, we saw so many different options to enjoy our time on the island. Golf courses, snorkeling, submarine tours, parasailing, beach bars, and a giant casino on the water just to name a few! And not to mention that everyone get’s place to place on golf carts! Our golf cart rental zipping us from place to place mixed with the island tropical vibes… it felt like we had been transported to a california/italy/mexico world and we never wanted to return!

Not too crowded!

We were shocked to find out how few people were here, and we were told that we came during peak tourist season too! If you’re not huge into crowds or crazy night life, this is the place for you. Catalina island is meant for the relaxed and intentional vibes. So, enjoy the views and sip on your drink in a lounge chair rental from either Two Harbors or Descanso Beach Club

4 Locations in Catalina Island for a Wedding or Elopement

Wrigley Memorial and Botanic Garden

This was our personal favorite! It felt like we were transported to Spain with the old structures sitting on top of the hill. It was insane to see! Blooming fuchsia bushes surround the gates and marked garden paths are everywhere to look at different cacti and other tropical desert plants!

Cliffside Elopement overlooking the bay

This epic location is a great spot to get a view of the entire bay and all of the sailboats. It’s also in a great spot for privacy. We wouldn’t recommend this spot as a wedding location since it’s more of a public local’s spot that’s just off the side of the road.

No exact address! Hire us to show you where or a photographer who knows where it is! We highly recommend Katheryn as your photographer!

How to get married here:

This is more of a “first come first serve” type of spot! When our couple eloped here, we had the florist take 20 minutes to set up the altar and rugs. Then, after a short 10 minute ceremony with a private vow reading and candle ceremony, it was done. Only a couple tourists found the spot and saw us during the ceremony to which they respectfully turned away. This spot was perfect for our elopement couple in Catalina island!

Catalina Casino

This is the first thing you see when you start approaching the island in your ferry. It’s the most beautiful, white pillar building that serves as Catalina’s iconic wine mixer location! With it being right on the beach and walking distance to downtown, the Casino would be an epic place for a big party wedding. Or in this case, an after party for your elopement day!

Where it’s located:

1 Casino Way, Avalon, CA 90704

Shark Harbor – Backside

Where it’s located:

Shark Harbor, California 90704

How to get married here:

To get here, you have to purchase the annual permit to access the backside of Catalina island. If you don’t plan to come to Catalina often, this may not be the best fit for you. But if you’re looking for a private beach featuring a rocky coastline, this place is sure to give you that. With epic landscapes and wide open beaches to set up a nice table, this spot is perfect for a sunset ceremony and dinner. You might even see some bison off the side of the road like we did!
