This winery summer elopement was originally supposed to be a grand party with over 200 guests. But of course, COVID happened and Adalyne and Mitchel sacrificed this big wedding dream and opted for an intimate elopement instead. Instead of 200 guests, they narrowed it down to a humble 15 headcount and eloped at the Domaine de Broglie, a beautiful winery out in Dayton, OR — just a 40 minute drive from Portland!

Adalyne + Mitchel’s Winery Summer Elopement

Before the ceremony began, Adelyn’s father got a first look — a moment that’s for sure a tear-jerker!

Soon after, Addie and Mitchel shared their vows in private. We blindfolded Mitchel right before so that he wouldn’t see Addie in her dress before the ceremony! They exchanged their vows back-to-back and this moment alone showed just how much history there is between the two of them. And right then and there, I knew how special this day was to everyone there!!

Next was the main event: the ceremony! Addie was quite surprised when a live painter was present! She had no time to react until the ceremony was over, but I don’t blame her. Addie & Mitchel’s friends performed the couple’s special song “Get You to the Moon” as Addie walked down the aisle, making this day even more meaningful to the bride and groom. Luckily, I snagged a recording of her friends singing and you can hear it in the film!! Addie & Mitchell also chose to have a faith-based wedding by receiving communion and even having their “I do’s” express their love for God.

After the ceremony, we all gathered to have dinner at an intimate reception. We listened to some speeches and enjoyed ice cream towards the end! Addie’s dad sent the newlyweds off by leading them in a family tradition where they burn their initials into a wood tree.

Why Have a Winery Summer Elopement

Have you ever been to Italy? Or maybe you’ve seen movies like the Parent Trap (the one with Lindsay Lohan, I mean) or Letters to Juliet? Part of the romance in those movies were because the stories were set in vineyards, where you’ve got the countryside, beautiful greenery, lots of sunshine, and romance, of course!! Addie + Mitch’s elopement had a gorgeous backdrop: a grove of trees overlooking the valley and the vineyard. While you may not live in the Italian countryside, choosing a winery as your venue is sure to give you that atmosphere if you’re looking to capture the tuscan romance on your special day!

Get to Know the Couple

How did you two meet?

In middle school.

What are your favorite things to do together?

Travel, go see movies, or hang out with our doggo, Koda James.

How did Mitch propose to you?

He told me we were meeting friends for dinner. Then he took me down over 100 stairs down to this private beach in Laguna, CA, called Tablerock. I kept telling him we were lost and “no way the restaurant was that tucked away!”. We got down to the beach right at sunset and walked over to a beautiful blanket with rose petals and a “memory lane” filled with pictures of us through the years. That’s where he asked me to be his forever and after I said “yes”, we set off a sky lantern together, something I had always wanted to do.

Addie + Mitch’s Winery Summer Elopement Film

I made it a goal to capture the joy everyone felt this day when I filmed this winery summer elopement. And to be honest, it wasn’t that difficult. Addie and Mitch have known each other for what feels like forever, and everyone had big grins the whole time! When you’ve known each other for as long as these two have, being married is truly a big moment!
