We go behind the scenes of solo-filming two rehearsal dinners and multiple welcome party events in one wedding weekend—including a snow-tubing celebration at a ski resort and an intimate “coffee with the couple” gathering. Wedding filmmakers often face the challenge of covering pre-wedding events alone while navigating unpredictable lighting, shifting locations, and limited time. This episode breaks down the practical gear choices, storytelling strategies, and real-time problem-solving required to create cohesive, cinematic coverage for such events.
This episode walks through the exact pre-wedding conversations and systems used to set second shooters up for success—from dialing in camera settings and color profiles to defining coverage priorities, A-roll vs. B-roll strategy, and storytelling approach. Designed as a practical crash course in building team alignment, this episode equips filmmakers with a clear framework to ensure cohesive footage, smoother edits, and a stronger final product.
You’ll see how intentional handheld b-roll guided by purpose, movement, and story creates visual continuity before the day even begins. Then, we step into the getting ready spaces with a documentary-first mindset, using the couple’s notes to create a raw, emotionally driven shooting approach. This episode focuses on how to film with intention so every establishing shot and candid moment meaningfully supports the narrative of the day.
In this episode of Unveiled, we break down nine different first looks across two weddings—including couples, parents, siblings, and wedding parties. First looks can easily feel repetitive or staged, but when approached with intention, they become some of the most emotionally powerful moments of the day.
In this episode, we focus on collaborating seamlessly with the photography team by prioritizing communication, positioning, and shared timelines to ensure both teams thrive. We concentrate on capturing the in-between interactions: the laughter between poses, the resets, and the candids happening all around us that often become the most powerful parts of the film. At the same time, we strategically introduce high-energy prompts to bring movement and personality to the wedding party, creating dynamic visuals that elevate the final edit.
We break down the full ceremony workflow from start to finish—covering ceremony design b-roll, strategic communication with the second shooter, tripod placement, lens choices, audio setup, and more. Ceremonies offer no second chances, and without a clear game plan, critical moments can easily be missed. This episode provides a structured, beginner-friendly framework designed to help wedding filmmakers approach ceremonies with confidence, precision, and a reliable coverage strategy that protects both the story and the final edit.
This episode is a nice break from BTS and dives into all of the main camera bodies, lenses, audio, tripods, etc. I bring to weddings with detailed explanations of why and when I use them.
I also share what I plan on purchasing for the 2026-2027 wedding season.
Filming a cocktail hour with the intention to connect with the guests and film nostalgic shots on our super 8 is why we love this time of day. You’ll see the exact prompts used when shooting on Super 8, along with the mindset behind capturing authentic interactions, ambient movement, and elevated atmosphere.
In this episode of Unveiled, we answer one of the most frequently asked questions: How to confidently prompt couples during sunset portraits. Although none of the three featured BTS weddings included a sunset, we supplement this episode with behind-the-scenes footage from multiple 2025 weddings—including POV coverage captured on Ray-Ban Meta glasses and one of our strongest sunset portrait sessions of the year. By analyzing real-world examples across different venues and lighting conditions, this episode breaks down positioning, movement-based prompts, and light awareness—equipping filmmakers with a repeatable framework for creating cinematic, emotionally rich sunset footage regardless of location.
Here, we break down a minimal yet intentional lighting setup designed to achieve soft, ambient cinematography in a variety of reception environments. You’ll see first hand how gear and lighting choices create a stress-free and uncomplicated set up and breakdown. It also mentions our favorite tutorials online to learn cinematic fundamentals.
This episode walks through every key reception moment —from first dances and cake cuttings to bouquet tosses and beyond. I explain my positioning, lens choices, movement strategy, and how I anticipate moments before they happen. Wedding videographers will gain a structured framework for capturing reception events confidently, ensuring no important moment is missed while maintaining a cohesive, cinematic story.
I share the complete dance floor shot list I’ve refined over the years to consistently deliver dynamic, immersive POV dance footage. You’ll see how I direct and interact with guests in a way that keeps them comfortable while creating high-energy visuals. This breakdown equips wedding videographers with a repeatable strategy for capturing authentic, engaging dance floor content that elevates the final film.
Trends shift. Gear evolves. Styles cycle in and out. But storytelling principles and client experience remain constant.
The systems, instincts, and artistic decisions shown here are the product of years spent mastering the craft in real wedding environments.
Whether you’re refining your own approach or building toward greater consistency in your films, my goal is for this documentary to serve as both inspiration and education — grounded in real experience and a rooted philosophy in storytelling.

I began filming weddings in 2018 when my mom married my stepdad and asked if I could create a wedding film using iPhone footage from the day. While the footage and edit itself was simple, watching our family relive those moments made it undeniably clear: a wedding film isn’t just for the couple — it becomes a generational keepsake. That experience marked the beginning of my career in wedding filmmaking.
Like many filmmakers, my growth came through years of trial, refinement, and hands-on experience. I’ve intentionally honed both the technical and storytelling aspects of my craft — developing a filming approach that is structured, repeatable, and rooted in emotion.
My work is centered on creating authentic films that evoke nostalgia. I prioritize connection first — because when couples feel understood, collaboration becomes seamless. This allows me to merge their vision with my artistic direction in a way that feels natural rather than manufactured. The result is a film that reflects who they truly are while maintaining a cohesive, recognizable style.
