A Modern Fairytale Love Story
Leilani and Jasmine met while studying musical theatre at Cornish College of the Arts. These two were friends who were constantly pulled together. Looking back, they often joke about being star-crossed lovers who kept trying to be together before fate allowed them. It may sound cheesy, but everything about their meeting and slow coming together reads like an epic poem. While the setting may have been modern, the deep feelings, the wistful pining, and the ebb and flow of fate would be at home in any centuries-old love story.
Time went on, and eventually, the stars saw fit to shine on Jazz and Leilani’s love. Their relationship blossomed, and Leilani finally proposed to Jazz on Bainbridge Island off the coast of Seattle. This was the perfect proposal choice because these two share a passionate love for the Pacific Ocean. First, the couple went kayaking, saw seven seals (very auspicious), then went on a small stroll to the beach. Leilani had a whole speech prepared, but no words were necessary when it came down to it. She got down on one knee, pulled out a pink clamshell with Jazz’s ring inside, and, of course, Jazz said, “Yes!”
Fairytale Orcas Island Wedding Vendors
When choosing their venue, Jasmine and Leilani didn’t have to look far. They both find Orcas Island absolutely gorgeous, especially considering their affinity for the Pacific Ocean. Plus, they knew they wanted to get married as close to the water as possible. So, Pebble Cove Farm stood out above all the other Orcas Island wedding venues. The beautiful farm feels like a fairy garden with a magical mermaid cove. Altogether, it made the perfect setting for Leilani and Jazz’s fantastical romance novel-inspired Orcas Island wedding! They also hired a fantastic group of wedding vendors to bring their dream wedding to life.

Orcas Island Wedding Getting Ready Details
Photo credit to Leilani and Jazz’s talented wedding photographer, @naniwelchkeliihoomalu! I so enjoyed working alongside Nani to capture this truly magical wedding day. She documented every incredible detail while I acted like a fly on the wall, making sure no heartfelt speech or romantic moment went unrecorded.
WEDDING FESTIVITIES BEFORE THE BIG DAY
The wedding festivities began the day before Leilani and Jazz’s wedding with a whale-watching tour of the San Juan Islands. The brides-to-be wore matching A Court of Thorns and Roses jean jackets, bringing an extra touch of the fantastical to the day. And they continued to weave references to their favorite romantic, fantasy, and fairytale novels throughout their welcome party and wedding day.
GETTING READY HIGHLIGHTS
DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THESE WEDDING DRESSES! It honestly felt like Jazz and Leilani were a couple of superstars in our midst. Jazz’s custom-made pink gown with its beaded corset perfectly matched the fairytale theme of this Orcas Island wedding. And then you had Leilani, fully embracing her Hawaiian heritage in a high-slit wedding gown that showed off the traditional leis she wore from head to toe. Stunning is an understatement!
Fairytale Orcas Island Wedding Ceremony
Everything about this fairytale wedding ceremony in the San Juan Islands was uniquely tailored to Jazz and Leilani’s love story. From the colorful floral arrangements that decorated the oceanfront ceremony location to the handfasting ceremony, this couple leaned into everything that makes them, them. They even wrote their vows together, with Jasmine reading them in English while Leilani repeated the words in her Native Hawaiian language. If you haven’t watched the wedding film yet, stop here and go watch this tearful, heartfelt vow exchange!
Pebble Cove Farm Wedding Portrait Spots
After the ceremony and the brides’ beautiful flower-petal exit, it was time for bridal portraits. We headed down to the wedding venue’s mermaid cove-like picturesque beach for some romantic photos. Then, the bridal party and families joined us for some group shots.
Orcas Island Wedding Cocktail Hour
While we had the brides busy with photos, the rest of the Orcas Island wedding guests enjoyed cocktail hour. Again, everything about this wedding was full of COLOR. Even the signature cocktails and custom-made drink menus showed off bright, vibrant hues.
Fairytale Wedding Reception Details
Finally, Jazz and Leilani rejoined their guests for a vibrant, fairytale-inspired reception. The brides injected so much of themselves into the décor through their beautifully unique DIYed storybook escort table, hand-made paper mâché poppies, and individually made table numbers in the shape of their favorite fairytale book covers. Additionally, they hired mochi and poutine food trucks in honor of their cats, Mochi and French Fry.
At 10 pm, they cut off the amplified music and hired a Celtic band to play for their last 30 minutes on the dance floor. YOU HAVE TO WATCH THEIR WEDDING VIDEO if you haven’t already! It highlights the entire colorful celebration, and if you watch until the end, you’ll catch a clip of the Celtic band finishing their set! You don’t want to miss it!
